Thank you to everyone who participated and tried their best in the Hillcrest Hustle on Friday! It was awesome to see so many students taking part.  The event ran as smoothly as hoped thanks to our excellent team of volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without them. Thank goodness the snow held off as well! The Cross Country team will be heading to Bastion on Wednesday afternoon this week for the Bastion Boogie. Wish them luck.

Many of the students at Hillcrest got a special treat on Wednesday April 24 when their classes participated in a tour of the “Poultry in Motion” truck parked in front of the school! Thank you to Shaylie Renner and Amanda Renner from Enderby for teaching our students all about chickens and chicken farms. The Poultry in Motion program is sponsored by the BC Chicken Growers association.

Thank you to Quinn Stelmak and Lauren Van Der Pauw from Mrs. Corbett’s class for representing Hillcrest Elementary at the recent Parent Curriculum Night at Shuswap Middle School. Quinn and Lauren shared everything from the math they are doing in class to the “I’m Grateful For” project they spearheaded, which is related to the core competencies and can be seen on the bulletin board across from the library. The girls were sharing their work during the gallery walk portion of the evening by showing videos and photos that they had uploaded to their My Blueprint online portfolio. Thank you also goes out to all of the teachers who contributed to our bulletin board presentation, the parents who participated in the evening, and Mrs. Corbett for supporting her students both in class and at SMS.

We are currently in search of volunteers for our annual Spring Carnival on Friday May 3, 2019 @ 6:00pm. Carnival brings in much needed funds that help pay for school programs for your children. Without your help, we can’t make the Carnival happen!
